Scrabble

Breed: Coonhound/shephard
Sex: neutered male
Age: 2 to 3 years
Weight: n/a

Scrabble is a 2-3 year old Coonhound/Shephard cross that was down to his last days in a BC pound. We pulled him out and flew him over to the Island, where this outgoing, friendly boy is learning to relax in his new foster home. Scrabble is an energetic boy that  needs a fair bit of exercise; so he will need an active family.

 Foster Home Update:

Scrabble is doing well. He loves other dogs but gets a bit over excited when he sees them.  He knows his comands and comes to whistling and sometimes to 'come' but he often pushes his luck and comes on the 3rd ask! He walks well on leash and checks in when off leash in the woods, but he loves to chase bikes, skiers and runners.
He likes car rides, the snow and the beach and even stands happily whilst being bathed! He is gentle but will 'play rough' if invited to.  He is pretty tolerant of being played with by the other dog.  He is fully house-trained. He can spend time on his own but is desperate to see you by morning.

Scrabble has the most amazing temprament-We just need to get the obedience up to par and he will be perfect.

Cesar

Breed: mastiff x
Sex: neutered male
Age: 1 year
Weight: n/a

Cesar is a neutered 1 yr old mastiff x. He came in as a stray from the CRD pound.

Cesar needs to go to a home without other dogs unless female, no cats and no small children. He is a happy boy but can be overbearing and hyper. He may knock small children over and chase cats. He gets along well with most dogs at his foster home and is well socialized with people. Since he so large and playful, he requires somebody who will be consistent with his training and can handle him as he is very strong. He loves water and is eager to learn. He could possibly be a great competitive obedience dog as he is so willing to work and please his owner. Cesar is a high energy boy who needs lots of exercise and playtime. He is very sweet and loveable and will make a great companion for somebody willing to put the time in for him.

Cesar has had a professional behaviour assessment completed and the results are as follows:

Cesar is a young, confident adolescent Mastiff X looking for a new home. The ideal home for Cesar is one with active, large breed experienced owners. If frequenting the dog park is your thing – Cesar is not the guy for you. Cesar plays appropriately with most dogs however, he will take on male dogs that challenge him. Pretty typical of teenage boys but this isn’t a behaviour we want him practicing! Cesar reportedly shows an unhealthy interest in cats so a home with no cats, small furry creatures or livestock is a must.

A big plus for Cesar is that he is an absolutely sweet with people. He exhibits no body handling issues and loves nothing more than to have his belly rubbed. Because of his size and zest for life though, a home with no small children is essential. He has good obedience skills and is a very willing worker. He responds incredibly well to reward based training and would do well in rally, obedience or tracking. I wouldn’t recommend agility due to his size/build. He has reportedly displayed some leash reactivity towards other dogs – with additional training I believe this will be easily resolved. Ideally Cesar will be the only dog in his new home. He could likely live peacefully with a large breed female dog [this would be assessed by our trainer]. He is an active boy so will need an active owner[s] to take him swimming, hiking, mountain biking etc. Continued training is also a must for this guy to get him through his teenage period.

Scruffy

Breed: terrier mix
Sex: spayed female
Age: 1 year
Weight: 6 kilos

Found as a stray. She is around one year old
and weighs 6 kilos. Scruffy is a terrier mix
and likes to think she's the "leader of the pack". She
responds well to voice commands.
Mostly, Scruffy loves to run
around and chase, play, but of all I think
she'd just prefer to be in your arms and
loved up. Click on link in green bar below for

contact info and application.

Bontia

Mixed-breed female around
6months of age and weighs 14 kilos. Bonita
has neurological damage due to an
unknown injury..which gives her a crazy
little walk but no mental problems. Xrays reveal no
bone damage.  Bonita
enjoys playing with dogs of all sizes but
seems to know her limits and will "time out"
herself.  Bonita would suit a home where
she will get daily leash walks and frequent
play times with other dogs with supervision. Swimming
could be a great benefit to her. She is a loving,
low maintenance dog that just needs
affection and understanding in a home that
will accept her for what she is. Bonita is fine with cats and is a sweet, gentle girl.

Stanley

Breed: precious pittie
Sex:  Neutered Male
Age: 2 years
Weight: n/a

Stanley is a 2 year old neutered male.  He is also a bit of a celebrity, although he doesn't know it.  While the world watches his video, he spends his time destuffing toys and proving that even the most durable Kong is no match for him.

Stanley is VERY dog social.  He loves everyone he meets and is great with kids.  We don't know if he's good with cats, but we will be testing him soon.  He gets excited when he sees other dogs on leash but we are working with him on that as he redirects easily.

Stanley was a stray on the streets of L.A. before coming into our care, and it's possible that he's never spent much time in a house.  While he is mostly house trained, he needs someone to fine tune this.  If he is given the choice, he'd rather go outside!  He needs some work with little things, for example, Stanley is just learning to navigate flights of stairs!

Stanley will be having eye surgery soon to correct a rather irritating problem and is still undergoing treatment for mange.  He is slowly gaining back the weight he lost on the streets.  Once his eye surgery is done and free and clear, he'll be ready to enter his new home.  Stanley is currently living in foster with a 5 year old boy and 3 other dogs.

We are now taking applications for Stanley's adoption
Please read about Stanley's story  on the blog on our website!

Elsie

Breed: precious pittie
Sex:  spayed female
Age: 3 years
Weight: 50 to 55 lbs

Polite, friendly and calm, Elsie is one of those dogs who will fit seamlessly into your household. She’s completely house-trained, crate-trained, non-destructive and very eager-to-please.

Elsie is three years old and was inexplicably abandoned by her first family. We can’t understand why. She is a little social butterfly and just loves people – giving kisses indiscriminately. She’d rather have cuddles than just about anything, though a tug toy comes a close second.

While not overly interested in dogs, Elsie has been very friendly and tolerant with those she has met – even a grouchy roommate in her foster home. As with most dogs, her owner should be prepared to provide slow, controlled introductions to new canine friends. Elsie has no intention of starting trouble, but she’s a confident girl and will respond if challenged.

Elsie would have no problem sharing a house with other dogs, but cats are not a great idea.

A bit of obedience training and work on leash manners would be great for Elsie, but in most respects she is a ready-made dog. She’d do well in just about any family environment as long as she has lots of human companionship, a moderate amount of exercise, and clear rules to follow.

If you think you could offer Elsie the home she deserves, please fill out an application today!

Jacob

Breed: precious pittie
Sex:  neutered male
Age: 8 weeks
Weight: n/a

What could be cuter than an eight-week-old puppy? A butterscotch-coloured puppy who lives to cuddle! Meet adorable little Jacob…

Jacob is a sweetheart, and won’t be on our Adoptables page for long. This smart and energetic little guy has already learned to come when called, "sit" using verbal and hand commands, and he is making great progress with his leash manners and house-breaking.

As active as you’d expect for a puppy, Jacob loves to zoom around the yard, play tug of war, and socialize with other animals – he currently lives with dogs, cats, ferrets and ducks. He snuggles and plays with the dogs, and will bark at the cats and ducks, but never causes any trouble.

Jacob loves his crate and hides all his toys in there. He’ll occasionally nap in there too…until the door is closed! Like any young one, Jacob doesn’t like to be left out of the action and he’ll need to be introduced to the concept of “alone time” in a slow and positive manner.

A social butterfly, Jacob is the first in the house to greet strangers and visitors and he adores snuggling. He'll often seek out human contact to lull him to sleep.

Any puppy is a big commitment, and his adoptive family should be prepared to continue with training, house-breaking, and socialization. A puppy kindergarten and/obedience class would be a great idea. It will be a while before he can be home on his own for long periods of time, but with the right training and upbringing, Jacob will continue to blossom into the sweet, loving and devoted dog he’s born to be.

If you think you could offer Jacob the home he deserves, please fill out an application today!

Fergus

Breed:  Affenpinscher (?) mix
Sex:  Neutered Male
Age: 4 to 5 years
Weight: 17lbs

Fergus was rescued from a high kill pound in Arkansas where he was in
danger of being euthanized. Here's what his southern foster parents
have to say about him:

Fergus is our little "man of the house." Scrappy and scruffy, this
little black dog has curly fur between cute high set ears capping
expressive dark eyes. His tail sweeps high on his back and usually
only relaxes when stretching or sleeping. There is a little white
wisp of fur on his chest. He has a big personality and he thinks he
is a big dog. He is like a wannabe muscle man; he tries to look the
part and play the part but is just dorky enough to not pull it off.
When he has something to say or thinks he is not being paid the
attention he is due, he will "talk" (not bark, talk) until you are
paying attention. And you will pay attention.

He's sweet and cuddly and loves being with people so he'll be
happiest in a home where he has human companionship during the day.
He's been good with other dogs and fine with cats. While he's pretty
mellow he has a playful side too.

Fergus will be coming to the Victoria area in early February.
Applications are being accepted in advance of his arrival. More
information about Fergus, Mosaic Rescue and the adoption process can

Tyfanni

Tyffani is a 6 year old mixed breed girl who is just so sweet.  She's medium sized but is quite overweight and is definitely in need of some exercise and conditioning.  Tyffani had been at the shelter for a long, long time and was overlooked for younger and more outgoing dogs - but this placid, delightful girl is going to make someone a fabulous addition to the family.  Tyffani is up to date on her shots and is in good health.  She's had a full work up and passed with flying colours.  She is friendly, laid back and desperate for someone to call her own.  She responds well to affection and is both striking and loving.  She has a heavy medium length coat and the cutest little tail you've ever seen.  Tyffani can be a little reserved at first but it takes her no time to warm up to people.

Tyfanni may be a little shy with very young kids but older children would be fine for her. She's smart, respectful and undemanding - she would be an excellent dog for an active retiree or someone who is looking for an all around wonderful family dog.  If you can give this special dog a loving and permanent home, please contact us at www.dogbless.ca

Joey

Joey is a black Lab mix female who was left by her owner at the age of 8. She’s desperate to get out of the shelter as she gets picked on by the other dogs. She tends to be submissive, is particularly fond of men and is a very happy go lucky dog. Definitely a beauty. Joey is leash and housetrained.

Watch "Pretty Girl Joey" video

Joey is spayed and up to date on her shots. If you can give Joey a loving home, please complete our online application form.

Gracie

Breed: Cairn terrier mix (?)
Sex: Spayed Female
Age:  approx 8 months old
Weight: n/a

This is Gracie, formerly named Koala.  Gracie was adopted out, but it has not worked out in her new home as her new family feels she needs a different kind of home with a bit more action and a fenced yard, so she is up for adoption again.  Gracie is approx 8 months old and appears to be part Cairn Terrier.  She is pretty much housetrained and has even learned to ring a bell to be let outside.  She will do best with someone who is home alot.  She is a very active little one, and also a puppy so she is still chewing and learning her manners and what is appropriate to chew.

We feel Gracie needs a secure fenced yard, and someone who will walk her daily.  She loves being outside, but she is smart and could probably dig her way out, so the yard must be secure.  She loves other dogs and would love to have another dog in her family.  She would also do well in a family situation with older children, not the young ones though as she still chews and gets a bit mouthy when she plays.  Gracie is small, but very smart and sturdy.  We think she would do well taking obedience classes or doing agility.    This girl has tons of potential, and will make a great addition to the right family.

Libby

Breed: Basset Hound mix
Sex: Spayed Female
Age:  1 to 2 year
Weight: approx. 35lbs

Libby is a 1-2 year old Basset Hound mix who is in good health and weighs approximately 35lbs. She is a happy girl who is FULL of energy and she loves to play. Libby is still very much a puppy in spirit and she is a very fun dog. She will need a family who is willing to continue her training, but she is eager to please and as with most hounds, she is very food motivated.

Libby will be available for adoption after she has had some time to recover from her spay surgery. She will be tattooed, micro-chipped and up to date with her vaccinations. She still has the occasional accident, but she is almost fully house-trained.

If you would like more information about Libby or would like to request an adoption application, please e-mail fureverafter@hotmail.com

Tuck

Baby Tuck was emaciated and very very cold when he was found on a highway in a remote First Nations community.  Thanks to his saviour this angel was sent down into the arms of Big Heart Rescue to begin his search for his own forever family.

The handsome little boy is only 7 weeks of age and weighs in at 8 pounds.  We have no idea of his breed mixture nor what size he will be but we suspect he may have some shepherd, husky, rotti or hound in him so he could be medium to large in size.

His adoring foster home is on Vancouver Island and they are providing him with all the TLC he can absorb.

Next week he will be vaccinated, de-flead and have a second vet check.

If you are home the majority of the day, have a securely fenced yard and wish to bring home a bouncing baby boy please send Gail an email at spiritsmission@shaw.ca

And yes, puppies are so cute! But...

Puppies will grow into dogs. Also, puppies require a tremendous amount of time and effort on your part.

Puppies need to be feed three or four times a day. They need to be house trained and will probably have "accidents" in your home.

Puppies may cry and keep you up at night. Puppies chew and they might just chew up your favourite chair.

Puppies dig and they might just dig up your newly planted rose bush. Puppies jump up and scratch you or others with their sharp claws.

Puppies nip and their sharp teeth hurt. Puppies need obedience training and they may still ignore you when you tell them "no".

Puppies need you home with them, so they can learn what love means!!

Note: To adopt, you must live within a two hour driving distance of the lower mainland, or on Vancouver/Gulf Islands

Kilo

Kilo is 2 year old Pit Bull mix.  If you show him rules and boundaries you will have an amazing dog.  He is currently fostered with 2 other dogs and 2 children and is doing wonderfully.  He loves to play .  If you are looking for a large, dog social boy to add to your family, Kilo is your man!

Update from foster family
After just one week of being with our family, Kilo has made himself at home. At 2 yrs of age he acts like a 6 month pup!He is super curious and VERY playful. The ball seems to be his favorite thing to play with,he is great at playing soccer and amazes us at his dexterity. It's truely amazing to watch. He is very submissive (no aggressive)towards both people and dogs. Kilo is super affectionate and is always at our feet wanting to please. He knows the basics for commands, such as sit, lay down etc. On a leash Kilo tries to be the leader, but does listen good and with some work he will be great in no time. We were warned that Kilo has shown seperation anxiety and has even been known to chew. Since he has been with us we are happy to report that nothing of ours has been destroyed. We tend to only leave him for short periods of time allowing him to adjust and feel confident being alone. We also know from having 2 other dogs that a tired dog is a good dog, so Kilo not only gets walked, but run hard EVERYDAY. He shows great manners, listens well and is house trained, he whines at the door togo out when needs be.Kilo is also REALLY good with children, as we have two ages 5 and 8. Overall we have all become fond of Kilo and he's fit right into family life. Kilo will need someone who can provide him security of his seperation anxiety, and not leaving him for long periods of times and giving confidence of being alone. Baby steps some would say.

Sophie & her pups

Pups: Alice, Izzy, Max, Rasputin, Roxy

Sophie was abandoned in the woods just days away from giving birth.  Very pregnant and in need of a warm, safe place to have her pups, Sophie made it through a network of dog lovers and into the RespectABull program.  She was on her way to stay with our family in Port Alberni, but Sophie couldn't wait.  While staying with one of our dedicated fosters, Sophie began to show signs of labour.  She did a great job, but ran into trouble when she couldn't birth one of the pups.  Sophie was taken to the vet where she had an emergency c-section.  She is now the proud mom to 2 boys and 4 girls!

Sophie remains in foster care where she can gain weight herself and take care of her pups.  Sophie is a wonderful dog, and it's amazing to think that anyone could give her up.  She's shown no aggression during her whole process, and seems to love every human, dog and cat that she meets.

We are accepting donations to help pay for Sophie's c-section and care.  Any amount is most appreciated!

Rusty

This is Rusty.    He appears to be a shih tzu cross, and weighs about 20 pounds.  Unfortunately, Rusy had to be completely shaved down due to matting.  He looks a bit funny right now, but his hair will grow back.  He doesn't appear to have any formal training, but is already learning to 'sit' and lay 'down', and to get 'off' the couch when he's told. He's also pretty good on a leash, doesn't pull much, unless he finds something interesting to sniff. He is also crate trained, and currently sleeps in his crate at night.  He doesn't have any food aggression or toy aggression, but he does want to be the dominant dog in the house.  He also seems to like kids - he's met several on our walks and likes to let them pet him

Buddy

Buddy is a 5 year old Bichon cross. He's very energetic and playful. He loves to play fetch, and can carry on for hours! It's very amusing how he just does not get tired of bringing the ball back and dropping it at the feet of the person who throws it! Although, when several people are around, he gets confused and fetches the ball to the first person he sees, whoever's closest, as long as that person will play with him.

He's great with all other dogs and loves going for walks. He's a cuddler as well, and can calm down nicely when needed.
His right eye might appear to be inflamed, but it's actually due to the lack of pigment in his skin that it looks that way, the vet says it's completely normal.
He's neutered, microchipped, de-wormed and de-flead. His adoption fee is $450.

Pepsi

Pepsi is a very happy-go-lucky little guy, friendly with everyone and loves attention. He's good with other dogs, although he doesn't seem to want to play with them. He's the cuddliest boy and loves to give kisses. He also loves his walks! He will probably be good with kids.   He is 7 years old and is neutered, vaccinated, dewormed deflead and ready to be adopted.

Luna

This is Luna.  She is a senior girl of 13 years old that showed up at the shelter.  She was in horrific condition, she had a tumour on her head the size of a  golf ball, skin problems, kennel cough, and desperately needed a teeth cleaning.  We have done surgery to remove the tumour ( which was not cancerous), treated her skin problems, and given her a teeth cleaning.  She has cataracts in her eyes, she seems to see ok though.

As far as this little ones personality, she is friendly and fairly good with other dogs, although sometimes can be a bit snappy with them.  She is good with cats and just ignores them.  She is has separation anxiety, and barks whenever I leave her in a room to go to another room.  She also whines and barks when I leave her to go out of the house.  Eventually once she realizes I'm really gone from the house, she settles to sleep.  So ideally she should be with someone who is around alot, and you would need to be ready to deal with this as for a little dog she can bark quite loudly.  We would really like her to go to a nice home for her final years.

Dane

Feb 1 Update: Dane has come so far! The resilence of dogs is amazing! He has become a trusting and happy boy and greets strangers happily. He seeks out attention and often comes over and puts the gentlest paw on your lap for a pet. He walks nicely on leash, loves car rides and meeting dogs on walks. He plays very well with our other dogs as well. In the house he is content to lie in his bed ... or which ever bed is closest to his people. He sits by peacefully now while we cut his nails or put in his ear drops, and seems to enjoy any attention, including being dressed up by our daughter. Daners in still a little unsettled by loud noises or voices, but recovers immediately.

He would do well in a quiet household, without small children, that appreciates a gentle sweet soulful companion. He has met all types of animals, and showed no reactivity to any of them.

Dane is a 2 year old neutered male. He is a Taiwan Formosan mix and defintely striking. This poor guy was rescued off the streets of Taichung by the TUAPA shelter as a young pup. He was then brought to Canada by another group that was not committed to his rehabilitation. He was unfortunately bounced  around when they had trouble with his fearful nature, and of course this only increased his anxiety.

We have now claimed Dane and he has been placed in an experienced foster home for rehabiltation. He truly wants to be with people and likes to be rubbed and stroked, he just doesn't trust quick movements or having his collar grabbed. His absolute favorite human, a teenage girl, can do anything with him and he feels very secure and happy with her. Now we are working to get him trusting humans in general, and he will stay in this dedicated home until that day comes!

When Dane has gained trust and confidence he will be available for adoption. Click on green bar below for contact info.

Jake

Athletic Jake loves, loves, loves to run - but once he’s had his daily exercise he has a definite "off" switch. Whether on the carpet, on the floor, or upside-down against the mini-bar, this five-year-old spends the majority of his day happily snoozing away. Separation anxiety and destructiveness is not be a problem with this boy.

Once outside, Jake will trot along at a good, even clip for many kilometres without breaking a sweat. If he is overly stimulated he may pull or try to bite his leash, but with an experienced handler and the proper equipment Jake is quite a joy to walk. He also loves a game of fetch and some sprinting around a tennis court, yard, or lacrosse box.

Car rides are also a big hit, and Jake gets super excited as soon as he lays eyes on the vehicle. Once inside he will either sleep soundly during the trip or make what his foster mom calls happy donkey (braying) noises.

Jake is very interested in other dogs and will often pull or whine to go see them. He may respond if challenged by another dog we are not sure about that as he has never had the chance and can occasionally get frustrated on leash, so his owner should be prepared to continue teaching him manners – working on his “look” and “leave it” command, for example. He’s coming along nicely and with good handling has no problem walking outside and hanging around his local pet store with other dogs.

Jake needs an experienced handler and a very active lifestyle. He bonds closely with his owner and is a sensitive boy: he will do best with a strong and kind leader who can set up clear ground rules, provide a regular outlet for physical energy, and has a calm and confident demeanour. Jake will respond wonderfully after so much uncertainty in his short life, and be the stellar companion he was meant to be!

If you think you could offer Jake the home he deserves, please fill out an application today!

Carly

Carly is a large (32 kilos) spayed female approximately 1 1/2 years old. She is very affectionate
and mild mannered around the house, loving nothing more than to follow you around or go to
her bed with a toy. Carly is receiving daily walks and play times at the dog park and is learning
her manners with the help of her foster dad, Wayne, above. She is improving when meeting
other dogs (she's much better when free or on a long lead), but her biggest issue is reactivity to
other dogs while she is on leash. Carly will soon be going to a special class for that.

Here are a few words from Carly's foster mom, Karen:  "Overall, Carly is very relaxed and easy to have around. She is fantastic with the kids and never seems to mind the chaos that surrounds
a houseful. She's truly a 'people' dog and she loves everyone that comes in. She getsa little worked up when she sees dogs go by outside but not too bad, mostly she's just bored and curious. Carly LOVES the car and will hop in any chance she gets, ready for a ride -she'll sit there for hours if we let her, it's very funny. When driving, she is really good then just lies down and waits for you to return if you get out."

Carly's guardians must be experienced dog owners and be willing to continue with her training
and socialization. She needs a fenced yard and daily exercise. Cannot live with cats.

Harley

Harley 24lbs 2 yrs old blk/tan male

UPDATE: Harley has had a rough start in his short little life. He didn't know how to trust people and who could blame him after the neglect he suffered. He has come along way since he first arrived and no longer "screams" when he first meets people. He LOVES chasing a ball, he gets along great with other dogs, is crate trained, rarely barks, jumps into my arms to cuddle and his little bum wags a mile a minute. He can still be a little nervous when first meeting people but quickly learns to trust (all you have to do is throw his ball and your his friend for life! lol!). He walks well on a leash, knows how to sit, lay down, look and we are working on his stay. He is one very special little doggie and definitely one of our favorites and deserves someone special of his own! If you are interested in adopting Harley please go to our website @ Angels Under Our Wings Cocker

Meet Harley! Harley is Sebastion and Stella’s sibling. He is one of the 26 cockers that came from a hoarding situation and is currently underweight which is typical of dogs coming from this type of situation. Harley has had his cherry eyes fixed. He is a 2yr old black and tan cutie pie and we will have more information about him as we get to know him.

Sebastion

Sebastion 2 yr old Blk/Tan male 24lbs

Update: Since Sebastion arrived we have been working on his socialization as he was nervous around strangers. He has had a bit of a rough start to life and it is no wonder he didn't know how to trust people. When he was taken out of the hoarding situation he was dirty, terribly matted and malnorished. He has really come at of his shell and although he can still be a little nervous when first meeting new people he quickly learns to trust and then is very affectionate. He gets along great with other dogs and loves chasing a ball & playing with squeaky toys. He is a happy little guy and is really quiet. He is crate trained and walks well on a leash, he knows sit, down, look, come and we are working on his stay. He will need a home that will continue to draw him out of his shell even more and help build his confidence. Sebastion is Stella and Harley's sibling. He is also one of the 26 dogs from the hoarding situation.

Abby is an eight year old spayed female Shih Tzu mix who weighs about 12lbs. She's a bit of a clown and she is looking for a family who will appreciate her sense of humor. Abby is a very happy girl and she is a wonderful companion. Although she’s sort of goofy and she’s not likely to win any obedience awards, she makes up for it with her sweet, affectionate personality. She is a HUGE cuddler and she enjoys giving kisses – she loves belly rubs and attention. She is very tolerant of being brushed and groomed and never nips or growls. Abby is fully housetrained and she rides nicely in the car.

Abby is happy to hang out and watch a movie with you, but she’s also game for any adventure; she really just likes to be included in whatever you’re doing. Abby would likely do best as an only dog, or she could possibly share a home with another larger dog. She is quite reactive when meeting new dogs and although her foster mom has been working on this, Abby would not be a good fit for a family who enjoys spending time at the dog park. She has not been tested with cats yet, but we suspect that she would not do well in a home with cats. When Abby first came into our care, she had a tendency to bark when she was left alone, but now that she has settled in and feels safe, she is generally quiet.

Abby is in good health and she has been spayed, tattooed, micro-chipped and updated on her vaccinations. Her teeth have recently been buffed and polished. When Abby first came into our care, she had several benign tumors that have all been successfully removed. We believe that Abby has many happy years ahead of her :)

Tigger

Breed: Shih Tzu
Sex: neutered male
Age: adult
Weight: small

People say I am a 'special needs' dog because I'm blind. The truth is my ' needs' are far from special. I don't do stairs and that's about my only limitation.

I have a doggie door in my foster home. Once my scent was on it, I can find it from any place in the house or even after a stroll in the back yard. I NEVER mess in the house because I can find my door.

I'm not sure why I'm blind. I was used to make puppies but I don't think my owners cared about me. The rescue had me neutered (I didn't like that bit much) and let me retire to the good life. A cozy bed, a doggie door, nice people to talk to me and yummy food...what more could a guy ask?

I'm not much of a watch dog, I'll admit. I don't bark but when there is a new voice in the room I do a woooof. Sometimes I woooof so hard my front legs come off the ground! I stop when as you tell that everything is okay.

I LOVE to have finger massages! You rough up my coat and rub my ears and I just melt. Oh, I love that.

I'm smart too. My foster mom claps her hands and says "Tigger, find Momma" and I follow her voice. She always has a massage waiting for me when I find her.

I know you have a kind heart if you are considering adopting me but please...don't feel sorry for me. I am a healthy, happy boy who is enjoying life for the first time. I'm ready to share the good times with you.
