Animals In Need

This page is dedicated to the volunteer rescue organizations and the animals they save. Donations are always welcome so that they may continue to help those who cannot help themselves.

Island Dogz Rescue needs your help!

Donations are needed for the rescue,  including spay/neuter, immunizations, (and various other vet care needs), and transport of several Malamute crosses from a Saskatchewan hoarder/breeder that kept 22 Malamute crosses in complete isolation and sold their puppies. 12 dogz have so far been removed, but 4 of them were place in emergency only spots and need an experienced foster home, transport as well all vet care done. They are terrified of everyone, including their owner, and have not ever been out of their pens. The Sask rescue involved does not have the resources (financial or manpower) to help these dogz. Add to this, the owner could be mandated to release the remaining 10 dogz (unaltered males and females) at any moment. There just aren't the resources available there to take these dogz into rescue. The SPCA is not an option, as the owner has threatened to shoot all the dogz before he lets them go there! This man is a repeat offender that had even more dogz in Kelowna several years ago, and his threats are NOT idle.

Here at Island Dogz Rescue, we have 1 of these dogz so far; CHEVY. This 4 year old dog came to us completely shut down. He refused to eat or walk for almost a week. But we slept with him and carried him outside and slowly a spark came into his eyes! Everyday brings amazing improvement! Although tentative and skittish, Chevy now walks well on leash, and enjoys visits to the dog park (swimming...not so much :). He loves attention and will soak up all the rubs and brushing he can get. He now is neutered, micro-chipped, and had extensive dental care. His coat is getting softer and his tail is no longer tucked and wags occasionally now!!

With your help, we can bring some of Chevy's family here too. The only thing stopping these dogz from experiencing human love and a comfy safe home is lack of funds. You can help -- even the smallest amounts add up!!
