Bodhi (one of The Adorables)
"Bodhi is thriving! She is such a love and so much fun. She loves her cat siblings and is becoming more and more an adult dog. She loves going for runs and long hikes in the forest. We have taken her to California, Salt Spring Island and she loves being on the road in the car.
Bodhi (Suzie of the "adorables") has brought so much joy and happiness into our lives. She has grown into a loving, gentle, happy and healthy dog. We are so greatful to have her in our family."

Shiloh (one of Eve's pups)
"Shiloh has brought such joy to our family. She loves everyone and her tail wags non stop. All you have to do is speak and it starts! We have to watch any glasses that are on our coffee table as it doesn't take long for it to be cleared. Her tail is just the right height. She loves to be right beside us and is very affectionate. She enjoys cuddles and hugs and loves to give them, too. She tells me when she is ready for her walk and wants to play, enjoys car rides and trips to the beach, too.
She weighs about 40 lbs and appears to be the same size and build as her mom Eve. Shiloh is such a good natured, gentle girl and we love every minute we spend with her.
Thank you once again for all that you do. If it wasn't for your wonderful organization we would have never found our sweet girl."

Sandy
"Sandy has been with us now
for four months and is really settled in beautifully. It was a fortunate day for us on that Saturday in April when we contacted you about an adoption and as fate would have it, the little one for us was right with you
at that time. It didn't take many minutes for either Sandy or us to decide we were for each other and every day since it has proved to be the right decision for us both.
Thank you Carol and Victoria Adoptables. We wish you every success in your future well worthwhile endeavours" John and Val

“Zack (formerly Max of Victoria Adoptables Dog Rescue) came to us at 4 ½ months and is a perfect fit for our family. He hikes, boats, canoes, camps, swims and even goes quading with us! He has been a great puppy and very trainable (with the exception of many missing shoes!). He passed obedience school with flying colours and is well liked at the dog park. We love Zack! Thanks to his foster mom who gave him a great start prior to us adopting him.”

Bomber (one of Eve's pups)
Bomber is growing so fast. He is as tall as his brother now and just starting to fill out... he is a very good boy. Likes to think he is still a little puppy and tries to get on moms lap for hugs... so now we stand and he hugs me... seriously he loves getting hugs.

Jack (one of Eve's pups)
Hi Everyone, its Jack!
I am doing wonderful, and yes, finally growing into my big feet. I am almost 60 lbs now, and very very tall. I had a great time at the wedding this summer and have enjoyed all the days off with my parents. We have gone hiking, camping, and I even went on my first canoe trip. Don’t worry, I wore my doggy life jacket the whole time! The summer has been full of adventure and fun and I have been enjoying every minute of it.

Max
I adopted Max five months ago and it's been the best five months of my life. He is so well behaved and loves his walks to the park. Trains and birds will stop him in his tracks. I don't know why.
I am so happy to have him in my life. Thank you to Victoria Adoptable's for helping me find him!

Bear
Well - we've had Bear three months on Aug 30th and we both don't know what
we'd do without him. We really don't think we've seen a Happier puppy than
him. That tail of his is ALWAYS wagging and he is always playing.
I sometimes think he is changing coat colour again.....having Bear is almost
like CHRISTMAS, you never know what you will get.

Rithet
Thank you Carol for helping Rithet with his neutering and first shots. We found Rithet when he was maybe 4 to 5 weeks old on Rithets Bog in Saanich.Rithets still had his umbilical cord attached he was dehydrated and very weak and starving. Thanks to many passerbys that helped me get Rithet home I aslo had my two dogs with me we got him home safely. I bottled fed him for days then put him on solids. The vet can't believe how healthy he is for a feral. Rithet is loving, strong and has an incredible personality.Raised with two dogs his behaviours mimic the dogs which makes him even more lovable....crazy Rithet. Thanks again for your help and support. Sue Schembri/Hodgkinson |

Curley
It's been almost two years since Curley came into our lives and we can't imagine life without him. He's pretty relaxed, doesn't have a lot of energy. He won't bring back a ball or a stick, and he has very little interest in dipping his feet in the water. He enjoys many beach walks on the West Coast (avoiding the waves of course). But his most favorite place is in the forest. I never see him more happy than when we are on a hike through the woods. We live in a great community where Curley has thrived with the other dogs. His best friend, Yogi, lives right next door and they have play time every single day. Just like when we first got him, he still loves his cuddle time. He's a good boy and stays off the couches but as soon as you sit down on the floor that's his territory and he's going to cuddle with you whether you like it or not. And his older brother, Mork the cat, even gets in for some cuddles with him too. I don't think we could have gotten a sweeter dog than our Curley. We love him so much.

Clooney
Clooney is spending all his time outside of his kennel now. We leave him out during the day when we aren't home and he has been great. Hasn't destroyed anything! Except a few cookies in a tin on the counter :) But it is really good for him to be able to be out and wander around the house I think. Jaeda still chews on everything so we will wait until she is a bit more mature. But they are getting along beautifully and having a blast together. |

Stewie
Stewie is great. He has improved even more since the operation. He loves his walks. And when any of us come into the house he hides at the top of the stairs and waits to attack us. He wants us to chase him around the dining room table into the living room and back, etc. He loves to run, chase and play. He also likes to play another game that he started on his own about a month ago. He comes over to us with his ball and he makes funny noises in his throat until we play with him. We play tug a war with my hand trying to pull the ball from his mouth. He loves that. He becomes quite insistent, which is quite funny, except times when we are into a good program on tv and he will not be delayed and is very persistent.
The only problem if there is one, is that he hates to have his nails cut. He is quite silly and has his own personality. Our son changed bedrooms one night and Stu stood in the dark and barked at him. |

Hemi
Hemi is doing great! He is such a good boy! He has really filled out lately and is a lot more coordinated now! He has been neutered and had his dew claws removed which has really helped his running! He is very responsive and is usually off leash. His new game is fetch, he can't get enough of it and he brings the ball right back for you to throw again! He is very good with my girlfriends dog Cali who is an Italian greyhound chihuahua cross. They usually stay with us and Hemi and Cali are close sibblings!
Hemi is very protective over cali at the dog park and always gets in between her and other large pushy dogs, its very cute. He also loves my girlfriend Cristina and is protective over her too! She spends lots of time with the dogs and always takes them to the park sometimes when i am at work and she isn't.
Hemi comes with me everywhere! He is very loyal and loving. I couldn't have asked for a better dog and am so grateful to have him! I have included some pictures of all of us together .

Shilo
She is finished her training and boy do we still have work to do! Definitely has a mind of her own but we still love her dearly. She has a gentle loving nature and totally loves her big sister Myla. When Myla isn't around she pines for her.
We haven't hear her bark yet although I am sure that will come. Myla makes up for the two of them!
She has also met Jack and Bailey (now Tuaa) which is pretty cool. I would like to be able to keep in touch with them!.

Sage
May 17, 2008
I adopted Shiatzi, renamed Sage, from GVAC in February 08. I was told she runs like the wind and needs a special owner. I have always owned whippets & trained horses & thought, no problem. Wow, this girl redefined dog intelligence, speed & stamina for me!
I studied the breed carefully on the internet & she is very true to her breeding. My other two dogs thought she was just great, a ticket to fun and chaos, until they had to run, hike, play ball and do training sessions with her.
Life has settled down now. She has gotten used to horses. She loves her training sessions. I have purchased a bigger bed and buy large sacks of bones from Costco and Buddies.
I love her dearly and wouldn’t trade her for a minute.
Thank you GVAC, you do a great job!! I will be back to adopt again when the time is right. |

Sasha
After fostering Sasha for a couple of weeks, we fell in love with this incredible dog and decided to adopt her. Over the last months with us, Sasha has displayed her mastery of soccer, love for the outdoors, and has been able to lose quite a bit of weight. She is a suck for being tucked in with her blanket, and she loves sleeping with her stuffed toys. She’s even learned a few new tricks while teaching us many more… Thank you to Victoria Adoptables for bringing Sasha into our lives. She has brought us enormous joy - she truly is the best dog we could hope for. |

Jackson
Darwin has been renamed Jackson to give him a totally fresh start to his new life in his "forever" home with us. He has settled in nicely and and we could'nt ask for a better dog! Our first vet check revealed that he had gained 5lb. in the month he was in his foster home and we are very grateful to Crystal and Jay for taking such good care of him while he was in their care. He is getting along well with Arthur and our 2 cats Simon and Quinton and has loved meeting all his extended family over Christmas. He recieved new squeeky toys and chew bones from his Grandma and Aunts and Uncles so was very pleased about the whole thing.
Al and I walk the dogs at the Uvic dog park every morning which is a total highlight to the beginning of each day for Jackson. He can hardly contain his excitment when we get our coats on!
Tomorrow is another first with his first trip to our cabin at Boat harbour which will include morning walks through the woods to the ocean. I expect he may be encouraged to wade into the ocean with Arthur which will be fun to watch.
Thanks again for all the great work you do to benefit these animals until the right home can be found. We are so fortunate to have found our wonderful new dog through you. |

Gemma
"Gemma is doing very well. She healed nicely from her spay.....I also had her tattoed and her booster shots done she will be going back this week for her rabies shot..Gemma is great at the vet the only part she hated was when I left her there for her spay.
Gemma likes to sleep on the bed with me and she has to be touching me the whole time in bed.
She fit it well with the other little dog as well as both of the cats....she will get nose to nose with the cats and won't bother them at all until they jump up on the bed then she growls at them cause she doesn't want to share me. Because Gemma doesn't like to be brushed I took her in to get shaved she is so cute with her new haircut and it turns out she has about 10 tan spots on her back that weren't noticable when she had long hair.
She is a real love bug and I am thankful to you, Carol and Victoria Adoptables for letting her come to us." |

Torbin is doing awesome. He loves to go on long (really long!) walks, knawing on his 'babies' (stuffies), throwing acorns around the backyard, chasing squirrels, and his new dog buddy Sammi. He's always eager to please and did very well in his training classes. He is a perfect fit for our family and we are so happy to have him with us. Mac
I adopted Mac in January 2007. He is such a smart, caring and loyal puppy. He is very spoiled of course; he sleeps in my bed and on my couch, he is never left alone and goes everywhere with me. He comes to the dance studio to teach classes with me. He often lies on the floor and watches, but other times he stands right beside me. I am so thankful to have found him and Victoria Adoptables!!

Charlie
My husband and I adopted Charlie (formerly "Dougal") from the CRD pound back in February. When we adopted him, he was very overweight, lethargic and sad...it turned out he had hypothyroidism. We took him to the vet and got him on medication (in addition to tons of love, cuddles and walks). Now he is a healthy, shiny boy with tons of energy (and weighs a trim 98lbs!). He loves to swim, play fetch and is such a wonderful guy. He is a cherished member of our little family - many thanks to the folks at CRD for helping us find Charlie!! We love our dog! |
