Tasmin

Tasmin, spayed female., 3 yyrs old.  Tasmin was abandoned in an apartment complex car park and had to fend for herself for a while.  A bit shy until she knows you.  Once she feels secure with you she will be a great companion.  Tasmin would do best in an adult only home or one with older children.

Charlie

Charlie is a black and white kitten, Mr sensitive, He loves affection and to weave between your feet when your walking, he'll also come up and nudge himself along your leg without you noticing. He talks A LOT....he doesn't care much when your patting another kitten, he just gets louder! So he needs attention. He's a handful.

Jake

Jake is an 8 week old cute little black kitten. He is a sweet friendly little fellow who was bottle fed along with his brother since they were three weeks old. He is the smallest of the bunch and likes his alone time when the others are sleeping so he can play without being bothered. He is a very cuddly little guy and is looking for a family that will keep him indoors and commit to taking care of him for the next 20 years.

Mr. Gray

Mr. Gray is delightful company! He is a youngish neutered male who is playful and affectionate. He is a very healthy, stocky cat with long thick hair. Mr. Gray gets along well with other cats. He loves interacting with humans and if other cats are getting attention Mr. Gray will push his way in to get more petting for himself. At times he is like a dog as he will stand up on his back legs for an extra pat.

Poor Mr. Gray spent the late winter begging food at a gas station. When he was first rescued he was very frightened and it took him awhile to trust people. Now there is no stopping him! He loves people and will reach out and tap anyone passing by, hoping for some cuddling.

Although Mr. Gray is playful he would not be good for small children as he is very enthusiastic and can be downright gleefully boisterous once he gets going. He has a lovely personality and will bring joy to the lucky person or family who adopts him.

Mellow Errol

We are calling this handsome fellow  "Mellow Errol." Try saying that quickly ten times! Truly, Errol's foster mom is completely in love with this unflappable, laid back, bombproof guy. Nothing fazes this boy; life is good and he accepts everything and everyone into his life. He is great with kids, foster mom has grand kids and Mellow Errol just accepts them happily.

Errol is a special needs boy as he is diabetic. Don't let that scare you away as he is very easy to medicate and his diabetes is very much under control. If you adopt this wonderful boy, Cat's Cradle Animal Rescue will be happy to pay for his diabetic medications and twice yearly blood tests for as long as you have Errol. Do you perhaps have a diabetic child who would benefit from having a fellow diabetic (kitty) around? Our vet says that Errol is doing very well and will possibly be able to have his insulin reduced in the near future.

Foster mom Diane would love to see Errol go to a home where he gets more attention than she can give him. Diane would be happy to speak more to you about Errol and answer any questions you might have. Please contact her directly at diandrew@shaw.ca

Jerry

My name is Jerry. Over a year ago I was begging food at a door on a busy street. When they weren’t looking, I would dart into their basement and nap on the sofa until they sent me back outside. I was “rescued” but no one has adopted me yet.

I am strikingly handsome, especially now that Helping Homeless Cats sent me for the hyperthyroid treatment. I’m cured and healthy and my coat it soft, silky, and fluffy. I am very active for an older gentleman and have many years left. I am content to stay indoors and I’m a trustful, loyal companion. I’m okay with some petting and attention and will even let you trim my nails. I prefer to give only one meow to let you know my wants or needs so I’m “low maintenance”!

I have lived a long life (10+ ?) and I've seen it all so nothing phases me! I am totally fine with other cats and ignore them or let them know if they bother me. I really like my foster brother Pooka (see his listing and consider taking us both!). When I get to know you well I will sleep on your bed and my favorite place is above you on the back of the sofa. I’d like a permanent home of my own and then another cat could take the vacancy at this great foster home. Cick on Helping Homeless Cats for email contact.

Livvy

Meet Olivia. She is a long haired super beautiful young girl and is approximately 3 years old. She is a shy girl, but has really come out of her shell in foster care. She is an extremely low maintenance kitty who

doesn’t demand a lot of attention, but does love to be brushed. In fact, she will purr non-stop while getting brushed. She likes to sleep on the bed, whether it’s night or day and would do well in a home of a single working person and would do well on her own, but does seem to enjoy the company of other cats as well. She is likely to hide for a bit in her new home, but with a little patience, Livvy will make a wonderful addition to your household.

Olivia is spayed, vaccinated, dewormed, deflead, and negative for both FIV and FeLV.

If you would like to adopt Olivia, please email gvac@shaw.ca to apply.

Dolce

This beautiful tabby girl here is Dolce. She was found amongst a house that had been demolished, wandering around in the rubble that was scattered about. She had been abandoned by the previous owners according to the neighbour.  A good

Samaritan, who had been feeding her, picked her up and she was brought into the care of GVAC. Dolce was incredibly shy and scared at first… she didn’t want to come out in the open for awhile and was quite skittish of anyone wanting to touch her or pet her. Her wonderful and patient foster mom won her over with treats and her true cat nature has begun to show.  She loves playing with her toys and likes to chatter to you. She enjoys being brushed and really likes to rub into your cheek… she’d nuzzle you all day long if she could. Dolce has really come out of her shell in foster care, although she is still apprehensive with strangers. Dolce needs a special home who understands that it may take a bit of time to build trust with her, as her last owners neglected to care for her as she should have been. She has lots of love to give to someone who is willing to let her proceed in her own way and learn that you aren’t going to hurt her or abandon her like she was before. A quiet home would suit Dolce best.

Dolce has been spayed, vaccinated, and tested negative for FIV and FeLV.

If you would like to adopt Dolce, please email us at gvac@shaw.ca

Jambo

DMH black
Size large
Age 2 - 4 years
Meet Jambo! His name means "Hello" in Swahili!

Jambo is a handsome, sturdy boy currently getting in shape for summer. He is
well-behaved, loves pats and regular doses of affection.

Likely where Jambo lived before he was so shy or scared that he rarelymoved. His lack of activity combined with his love of Friskies likely packedon a few pounds over the past few years. However, Jambo is a man on a
mission these days! In his current quiet and calm foster-home environment hehas recently gained confidence and motivation to exercise regularly with hisfellow foster-cat friend Asha and the results are impressive!

Jambo prefers the early morning and late-ish evening hours to run silently
through the house covertly exploring nooks and crannies or racing from room
to room chasing or being chased by Asha. During the day however, Jambo
prefers to sneak away to a quiet soft place, whether under a bed or on the
comforters piled in the closet. At present he does not play and has no
interest in balls or toys.

When Jambo feels comfortable in his new forever home, he we will surely run
eagerly from his hiding spot as his name is called for pats or FOOD, walk
leisurely around the house and groom himself and other felines in a relaxed
fashion in the doorways or in the halls. He has a sultry low purr but is not
vocal at all-content most when he has a soft body to sit beside or on:)

Jambo would like to move in with quiet, low-key ADULTS who know to use soft
voices and slow movements around him until he warms up. He would prefer to
live with other cat friends as companions and stimulus. Basically, Jambo is
a cool dude with a big heart who wants to meet you soon!  Contact Bev Archer of Cats Cradle Animal Rescue

Cher and Cindy

These two fabulous youngsters are looking for loving homes.

Cher and Cindy are 11 month old sisters.

Cher (tortie) and Cindy (torbie/tabby) have had an extremely difficult start in life having been abandoned and struggling to survive in  the woods.

They are very loving, outgoing, and affectionate in their foster home but will need patience while adapting to a new home.  They will blossom once they have had time to adjust.

They are both spayed, up to date on shots and negative for FelV and Fiv.   They live with other cats and two dogs and get along very well with everyone.

Please email kimesau@shaw.ca for adoption information.

Sadie

I’m Slim Sadie.. yes, I’m the real Sadie…
Nice to meet you.

I've had 4 months in loving foster care and my stunning & fabulous self has now been unveiled.  Anyone can see that I am a regal creature but what you can’t see is that I have a witty sense of humor and am quite a smarty pants.  True, I can be rather coy but I also have a magnificent rumble of a purr which I will dole out by your feet in the kitchen or while chilling on the living room sofa.  I’m ever so inquisitive and due to my sleek, fit physique I bound around exploring my house imagining I am on stage at a Cirque du Sadie show.  Taaa daaa!  You can laugh at me, I don’t take myself too seriously.  Please ask for me by name.
Will the real Slim Sadie please stand up?

Sadie was born around mid-May and is a healthy young girl. She has been spayed,

dewormed, deflead, fully-vaccinated, and tested negative for both FIV and FeLV.

If you would like to adopt Sadie, please email us at gvac@shaw.ca

Gordo

Gordo. Gordo is a wonderful boy who has diabetes. Gordo is in a foster home with another cat, a bunny, and lots of dogs and is doing quite well.  Here is what his foster mom Glenda has to say about him:

"Gordo is a very sweet cat who loves to be held and have tummy rubs.  He loves dinner time.  Giving his insulin shots is very easy as he just lies there without any trouble, and he is responding well to the insulin dosage he is now on.  He is bunking with a bunny and another male cat, getting along with all.  He will hog the food bowl if he is left to do so, which is something that needs to be monitored due to his diabetes.  Gordo is used to seeing the dogs on the other side of the gate and is not afraid, but if they get too close he will hiss and swipe at them, but then he will go and lay down closer to the gate!  Funny boy.  He isn’t very vocal, but will give a little mew when it is dinner time.” Gordo will need a home willing to keep his diabetes under control by giving him regular insulin shots and monitoring his condition.  Are you that special home Gordo needs?  Perhaps there is someone out there who shares Gordo’s condition or perhaps someone has a child who is diabetic and could learn from Gordo that needles aren’t so bad if they help to make you feel better!"

If you would like to adopt

Gordo, please email gvac@shaw.ca

Kelley

Kelley was found wandering around the BC Ferry Terminal with her eyes gummed shut and suffering from severe upper respiratory problems. A visit to the vet confirmed that she has a chronic viral infection in her eyes that will always be present. The vet assures us that she only experiences minor discomfort and has a good quality of life. If you see Kelley playing, you will know this is true. She requires no treatment for this other than having her eyes and nose wiped occasionally with a damp cloth and a vitamin supplement in her food. Her vision is somewhat impaired, but she is a great sniffer and listener, you can actually hear her sniffing at things.
Kelley is a very curious and sociable cat and will probably get along happily with playful, but well mannered dog(s) and / or children once she gets used to them. She is a very good listener and will learn your house rules quickly (you don’t even need a squirt bottle, she will respond to changes in the tone of your voice). She may not follow the house rules when no people are around, but what cat does! She does not tolerate being picked up and she will use her claws and wriggle tactics to get away. There is however, a very easy and effective technique to getting her into a carrier and clipping her nails that her foster mom would be happy to share with you.
Although Kelley enjoys the company of other cats, she should probably be the only cat in a home (unless your cat(s) already have the virus) as there is a slight chance other cats can contract her eye problem. Many cats have this particular viral infection but the symptoms lay dormant only to appear in times of great stress. Cats who are most susceptible are the very young, the very old, and those with weak immune systems. She requires no medication other than mentioned above and is a healthy happy cat who would be a wonderful companion. If you do decide to adopt this little girl and, in the unlikely event that she requires medical attention relating to her eyes, Cat’s Cradle will pay those expenses.
Please consider adopting this amazing, cheerful young girl.

Rio

Rio is a very friendly middle-aged neutered mail who is very interactive and likes to play. He is happiest in a setting where he is the only cat and loves to live with male humans. He’d love to be pals with a single guy where they can hang out together.

Rio is very affectionate, craves attention, and likes to stick close by his human. He was in a foster home with a senior and bonded with him from day one. Rio changed foster homes when this person had to move due to his health.

Rio is now in a foster home with two men and he’s having a great time. Their townhouse has stairs which is great as he needs exercise. He is a BIG boy and has a big tomcat frame but ideally could reduce by a pound or two. This is a great foster home, but they prefer to foster rather than adopt – so Rio ultimately needs to find a permanent home although he is in no rush to move. He is waiting for just the right single guy who’d love a buddy like him to come home to.

Sex:  Spayed Female
Age:  11 years
Size:  Large

Pookie is a very sweet girl who is looking for a loving home. She originally came to us because her previous owner could not afford to care for her, but it wasn’t until after she was surrendered that we discovered that she was suffering from undiagnosed and untreated diabetes mellitus. Pookie is now receiving daily insulin injections and her health has much improved. She is a happy girl who really enjoys cuddling and while she doesn't really enjoy other animals, she tolerates sharing a home with them. Pookie is looking for a home with someone who is comfortable managing her diabetes and who will commit to never give up on her. If you believe you might be the right person for Pookie please contact us at victoriapets@gmail.com; she is currently in foster care.

Smudge
Name:   Smudge
Breed    DSH tortieshell
Size      Medium
Sex Female Spayed
Age 8 – 10 years

I think Smudge’s foster mom’s comments say it all. If you are a Bee Gees fan, then Smudge may be the cat for you! Read on…….

“Smudge is a lovely cat who loves to sit on my knee when I sit on the sofa -she likes to lie on my stomach and purr loudly as well. She likes eating tuna but it does not go down well with her as it is too rich. She likes playing with bubbles that you blow at her then she pops them with her paw. She doesn’t seem to be a morning person and that is her “grumpy” time! She seems to like the Bee Gees and joins me on the mat doing karate exercises. She does not like Pink Floyd or vacuum cleaners!! She is scared of seagulls and is friendly towards other people who come and visit.”

CHINA DOLL

I’m a beautiful young lady, 2 or 3 years old. I’m nearly all grey except for lovely peach markings. I have a stream-lined figure similar to a Siamese.

My name is China Doll because I look like a delicate figurine. My movements are elegant and I often raise one front paw or the other in a strikingly feminine pose. I am a tall girl with long legs. I am friendly and affectionate and love people, but need more time to jump into laps.

I had a litter of adorable kittens in the fall and was told I was a fabulous mother. Since then I’ve lived with three feline roommates in a big room with big windows and like the indoors life. I’m not dominant, but get along best with nondominant cats. I’m a little bored in my present circumstances and look forward to a cozy foster or permanent home.

Jaspurr

DSH white

Age between 5 and 8 years

This handsome fellow is Jaspurr, an outgoing, friendly boy who likes attention and loves to play.

Jaspurr is a special case as he is a diabetic cat with his diabetes well under control with diet and two shots of insulin daily. If you consider adopting this handsome fellow, CCAR will supply the insulin and needles on an ongoing basis. Please, please consider giving this boy a home. Perhaps if you yourself are diabetic or have a diabetic child, this might be the perfect cat for you. Jaspurr was abandoned in a cardboard box, likely because he was unwell with undiagnosed diabetes. Nothing deserves to be treated like that and this boy is now realizing, in his loving foster home, that he is safe and well.

Tremain

Size
Sex male
Colour: orange tabby
Age: Adult

Tremain, a gorgeous orange tabby, was only hours away from being put down when we got him because he went crazy when trapped and caged and had appeared unadoptable. In a comfortable setting he is a sweet boy, quite congenial and playfull.

Tremain gets along well with dogs. He enjoys the safe indoor life and is not a door darter. He is friendly and affectionate without being dependent. Once he trusts someone, he enjoys sitting in their lap. He loves a nice pat on the head and scratch under the ears.

A big fuzzy bed in a sunny window is Tremain’s favorite hangout. He naps awhile and then watches the yard. He loves his food and is easy to please.
During his play time he can be very boisterous, so adults and older children are his best companions. He’s a great cat in every way!

Pooka

Size Large
Sex Male
Short hair
Colour: white
Age: 8 yrs.

I am a very affectionate, very large white cat. I have large pink ears sort of like a bunny. Have you seen the old Jimmy Stewart movie “Harvey”? There is a very tall invisible rabbit referred to as “a pooka”. In the movie, Pooka is defined as: “From old Celtic mythology. A fairy spirit in animal form. Always very large. The pooka appears here and there, now and then, to this one and that one at his own caprice. A wise but mischievous creature."

I am just as adorable as Harvey, the movie pooka, with the added benefit of being totally visible! I’m irresistible - very unique and very soft.

Get down on the floor with me and lean towards me - I will head-butt you and then rub noses. That’s my favorite way to show how much I like you. When I came to the Pound a month ago I had an injury to my nose. The fur isn’t growing in - maybe because I love to rub noses! Don’t worry about the little brown marks on my face as I was born with them.

I’m a very healthy and happy guy. I love to sit in laps and cuddle. I also like my alone time for long naps, so it’s fine if you are gone for many hours at a time. I can probably work things out with most cats. I’m an indoors kind of guy. I like the luxury of a nice comfy warm place to hang out. Being a white cat, too much sun can be dangerous for me – so it’s important that I stay inside.

I am friendly to everyone and might be able to get along with older children. I’d love to rub noses with you so please come meet me.

Muffinhead

Age  6 years
Weight  5.50kg

Meet Muffinhead. This poor boy ended up in a shelter after his previous owner passed away unexpectedly and he was found in the apartment by local animal control officers. Muffinhead is a very sweet boy who loves to be brushed, and to have his tummy rubbed. He's an indoor cat who's looking for a quiet home with someone who will give him all of the love and attention that he deserves and who will be comfortable managing his diabetes. Muffinhead is currently living at in a vet hospital but would love to find a home of his own. He seems to get along well with the other cats at the clinic and he doesn't seem too phased by dogs that respect his space, but would probably appreciate a home all his own. Because Muffinhead is a quiet guy he will be more comfortable in a home without young children. If you'd like to learn more about Muffinhead please contact us at victoriapets@gmail.com

I’m gorgeous with golden tabby. I’m confident, not shy, very intelligent, and have an interesting personality. I’m charming company when I want to. I need to ease into a relationship and then like lots of chin rubs, massages, petting, and cuddles. I’m not much for lap sitting and prefer rubbing by people to say hi.

I’m friendly in the morning – even like to lie on people a bit while they’re asleep! I then settle in for a big 12-hour nap on my own. If you work all day that will be fine.

In the evening I’m ready for companionship and will be a devoted friend. I hope you understand that being best friends takes a little time! I’m not fond of other cats but dogs are sort of okay. I’d love to get a permanent cozy home very soon.
