Adoption Info for Victoria Adoptables Dog Rescue
Please read carefully:
Victoria Adoptables Dog Rescue does not have a shelter. We are 100% non-profit and volunteer run. We take on stray and abandoned dogs, not owner surrenders. We foster dogs in our own homes where they benefit from a caring, safe environment.
We try to find the best possible match for the dogs/pups we take into our rescue care. As dogs are social animals we prefer to place them in homes where someone is there the majority of the day, will take them to work with them, or provide regular doggy daycare. We do home visits before adoption.
Unfortunately, due to time constraints we cannot respond to everyone who applies and will contact those homes where we feel is a best match for the dog/pup. At times, several people apply for the same pup and applications are declined. This does NOT mean that any volunteer of Victoria Adoptables Dog Rescue is making a judgment about an applicant's ability to provide a good home for a dog.
Our adoption fee is $425.00 for puppies.
Dr. Brar and staff at Lifeline Animal Clinic take all possible steps to ensure that our dogs are given the best possible veterninary care.
Included in our adoption fee is first vet exam, 2 deflea and deworm, first and second vaccinations, spay/neuter *(see below), ear tattoo for indentification when applicable and discounted training classes in the Greater Victoria area.
*Spay/neuter surgical procedures include a preanaesthetic exam, blood work, and iv catheter and fluid therapy during the procedures. While under the preanaesthetic, all patients are monitored with most modern electronic devices. All patients receive a post operative pain medicine and are recovered on magnetic beds to have the smoothest possible recovery.
Puppies require a tremendous amount of time and effort on your part. Please read this before you complete an application.
-
Puppies need to be fed three or four times a day.
-
Puppies need to be house trained and will probably have "accidents" in your home.
-
Puppies may cry and keep you up at night.
-
Puppies chew and they might just chew up your favourite chair.
-
Puppies dig and they might just dig up your newly planted rose bush.
-
Puppies jump up and scratch you or others with their sharp claws.
-
Puppies nip and their sharp teeth hurt.
-
Puppies need obedience training and they may still ignore you when you tell them "no".
-

-
AND... puppies will grow into dogs!
