Giving a Dog a Second Chance
Are you undecided about the level of commitment you are ready to make to a new dog? Does 10 to 15 years sound like a long time to tie yourself down to a new family member? Maybe you have grown kids and an empty nest needing to be filled, or you have just lost a beloved pet and are unsure about giving your heart to another one so soon? Foster Parenting may be just the answer for you for awhile.
The dogs on this website are all looking for their ‘forever homes’. Many of them have had sad, difficult lives and because they are older or not as ‘cute’ as the puppies it may take some extra time to find their perfect match. Because of limited space at some pounds or other facilities, the decision to euthanize them may be made to free up space. A foster home gives an animal a second chance to find their perfect home.
Fostering may be one of the most rewarding and fun things you can do if you are ‘between dogs’ and missing that dog energy around your home. It gives you a chance to figure out the level of commitment you and your family are ready to make to a new family member – and it gives you a chance to ‘test drive’ a dog for awhile. Maybe this is ‘the one’ for you – maybe not. If not, your perfect match is still out there looking for you. In the meantime, you will know that you are keeping someone else’s ‘perfect match’ safe and warm and loved until they find each other.
